OUR STORY
Faster and Smarter
At Magna, we understand the unique challenges that lawyers face daily. Co-founders Mario and Michelle Molina, seasoned litigators themselves, have experienced firsthand the burnout that comes from managing repetitive yet essential tasks. For over a decade, they grappled with scheduling events, document review, e-service, discovery, client updates, and other administrative duties that consumed valuable time and energy.
Mario and Michelle have successfully built a national litigation practice with over 130 employees across the country. They identified that the largest pain point in scaling and maintaining a litigation practice is the substantial cost associated with sourcing, training, and maintaining support staff. Even after finding suitable candidates, law firms must contend with churn, inefficiency, procedural failures, and burnout.
As their law practice expanded, these pain points intensified. Hiring and training staff quickly enough to keep up with growth demands became a significant hurdle. The monotony of tedious tasks led to high turnover rates and unmotivated staff, resulting in inefficiencies and increased costs. Mario and Michelle realized that the root of the problem was clear: humans thrive on engaging, high-value activities, not mundane, repetitive work.
In their quest for a solution, Mario and Michelle teamed up with Tarun Sukhani, a seasoned computer scientist with decades of experience in automating workflows for enterprises. Together, they began developing technology to alleviate these pain points for litigators everywhere.
They posed a pivotal question: Can we build AI to handle the workflows currently managed by support staff? The answer was a resounding YES. They began building prototypes for small workflows. By September 2023, the team laid the groundwork for the necessary infrastructure to turn their vision into reality.
Today, Magna boasts a dedicated team of 11 in-house back-end and front-end developers, NLP experts, data specialists, sales, and marketing professionals. Mario and Michelle’s law firm serves as the domain team, providing critical insights directly from litigators and support staff.
Magna’s dedicated infrastructure is coming together to build “ADA,” the first AI Digital Assistant for lawyers. ADA will be capable of handling significant tasks such as document processing, scheduling, calendar management, and discovery with unmatched efficiency and accuracy. By functioning like a real employee, ADA will eliminate the risk of burnout and perform routine activities that are essential to supporting legal cases.
Magna is poised to revolutionize the legal industry by eliminating waste, reducing burnout, and lowering operating costs. ADA will empower litigators to save money and reallocate their staff to more rewarding, high-value activities. This transformation will allow lawyers to concentrate on the strategic and complex aspects of their cases, thereby improving productivity and client outcomes.
